County renews public defender contract
Gibson and Kuehn, the law firm that has handled Nye County's public defender program since 2006, was given a five-year extension by county commissioners Tuesday, increasing their annual contract amount by $60,000 to $550,000.

Deputy faces charges
William John Tidmarsh, 41, of Pahrump, a Nye County Sheriff's deputy, was arrested Feb. 13 and charged with battery, second-degree kidnapping, open and gross lewdness and oppression under the color of office.
