SPECIAL TO THE PVT Tyrell Smith, a former Pahrump Valley High School pitcher, is now playing at Feather River College at Quincy, Calif., near Reno. Smith, 2-0 with a 1.12 earned run average this season, has worked eight innings, allowing six hits, one earned run, with nine strikeouts and eight walks for the Golden Valley Conference team. Feather River, coached by Terry Baumgartner, was 7-0 through Feb. 8, outscoring opponents 64-30. Also in the GVC are Shasta, Redwoods, Siskiyous, Lassen and Butte.
