Pahrump Valley's girls, in their next-to-last home game, defeated Las Vegas Desert Oasis 46-15 in Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division basketball Thursday.

The Trojans led 22-0 after the first quarter and with coach Jason Odegard playing as many as three freshmen the rest of the way, cruised to an easy victory against the first-year Diamondbacks.

The win moved the Lady Trojans' record to 8-6 in the division, 17-13 in all games. PVHS goes to Bonanza (11-3, 22-4) at 5 p.m. today and is at home against Spring Valley (3-11, 3-15) Friday to end its first 4-A basketball season.

Alyson Kunzi scored 16 points and Ashley Lindgren 10 for Pahrump. Megan Hamrick, Taylor McJunkin and Kayla Foster were the freshmen who got in quality minutes against the Diamondbacks (3-11, 4-16).

In the boys game, Desert Oasis sank 24 of 32 free throws, as the Diamondbacks defeated Pahrump Valley 57-43. Pahrump Valley had just 15 attempts and made 8, as the Trojans trailed 8-2, 23-20 and 43-36 at the quarters.

Marvin Weekly paced Pahrump Valley with 16 points. Mike Amburgey added 12 for theTrojans.

Tonight's opponent, Bonanza, is 4-10, 6-16, while Spring Valley is 5-9, 9-15.

* Bishop Gorman's Lady Gaels defeated Bonanza 82-59 Monday to clinch the Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division girls' basketball regular-season title.
