Senior center Kristi Daffer scored 20 points, while sophomore guards Alyson Kunzi and Ashley Lindgren added 14 and 13, respectively, as Pahrump Valley defeated visiting Western 58-32 in Southwest Class 4-A girls basketball Wednesday.

In the second half of the doubleheader, Johnnie Diggs fired in six 3-point field goals and 6-9 Melvin Washington added 15 while he controlled the boards, as Western prevailed 64-49.

Pahrump Valley's girls (7-6 division, 16-13 in all games) led 24-8 after one quarter and cruised to victory against the Warriors (1-11, 1-14).

Daffer, Lindgren and Kunzi led a first-half charge that gave the PV girls a 24-8 first-quarter advantage that allowed them to coast to an easy victory.

In the boys game, the Warriors had nine 3-pointers and might have had a wider winning margin if they didn't go 3-for-15 from the free throw line. The Warriors are in fourth place in the Southwest at 7-5 (12-9).

Alex Anderson had 21 points and Marvin Weekly added 17 for the Trojans (0-13, 7-17).

The Trojans played at home Thursday against Desert Oasis in another Southwest matchup. Pahrump Valley closes the regular season in games Wednesday (at Bonanza) and Feb. 13 (at home against Spring Valley on Seniors Appreciation Night). Both doubleheaders begin at 5 p.m.
