Mark F. Bond Jr.

Mark F. Bond Jr., 78, passed away Jan. 28, 2009, in Las Vegas.

He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Bell, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, having come from Palm Desert, Calif.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

He retired in 1993 as a steel salesman for Ryerson and his memberships included the VFW, the Moose Lodge and the Elks. He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Penelope A. Bond of Pahrump; eight children, 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Feb. 7 at the Elks Lodge. (01/28/2009)

Helen Lucille Kirk McGary

Helen Lucille Kirk McGary, 84, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Jan. 30, 2009, at a local care facility.

Helen was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Tooele, Utah to Roy Edward and Lucille (Cassity) Kirk. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1943, and married Fred McGary on April 3, 1948. They resided 30 years in Las Vegas, 12 years in Pahrump and moved to Nampa in 2004.

Helen was a homemaker and always had many friends wherever she lived. She was a marvelous cook, had a wonderful alto voice, and was a master quilter and seamstress. She sang at the West Charleston Baptist Church in Las Vegas.

While at SunBridge, she made lap quilts for the residents. She made baby layettes for unwed mothers and children with AIDS while in Pahrump.

She is survived by her husband Fred McGary of Nampa; daughters Mary Ann (Jack Marion) Hurren of Nampa and Ruth Jeannine (Marc) Duerr of San Jose, Calif.; son Arthur Lee "Bud" (Joan Dorothy) of Parker, Colo., and brother Lyle J. (Linda) Kirk of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 12:30 p.m. Feb. 3, at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa. Burial followed at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.

Melody Marie Wright

Melody Marie Wright, 62, passed away Jan. 28, 2009, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.

She was born June 6, 1946, in Monterey, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for 20 years.

A memorial service was held Jan. 31 at Oasis Outreach Center.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas. (01/28/2009)

Ryan Dwayne Kennedy

Ryan Dwayne Kennedy, 24, passed away Jan. 23, 2009, in Fallon.

He was born April 9, 1984, in Athens, Greece, and was a resident of Pahrump for 12 years.

He was an assistant radiographer.

"Although it comes his time to part, he'll always remain within our hearts."

He will be missed.

His mother Wanda Kennedy and step-father, Mike Hair; brothers Gavin and Jason Kennedy and Crystal Perez; ex-wife Jennifer Kennedy and son Tyler Kennedy survive him.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 7, at New Hope Fellowship Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ryan Kennedy fund at Bank of America. (01/23/2009)
