School board officers elected

The Nye County School District Board of Trustees elected officers at a recent meeting in Pahrump. Superintendent Rob Roberts took over the gavel from departing Board President Dennis Keating, and opened nominations. Mike Floyd nominated Kevin Pape and Tracie Ward nominated Harold Tokerud, with the majority of the votes going to Pape, who then took the gavel from Roberts. Tokerud was elected vice president and Ward was elected the board's clerk. Terms of office were also set by majority vote at one year of service. Pape and Ward were designated as primary signatures for checks and Roberts and Tokerud will stand in if either designated signer is not available. Board members were also assigned to committees and to represent the school board as follows: Mike Floyd is on the construction committee as well as the career and technical skills committee; Forsgren is on the insurance committee. Keating is the legislative representative and is on the United Way Pioneer Territory board of directors. He is also representing the board on the sick leave bank. McNeely is the park and recreation representative and joins Floyd on the construction committee. Pape is a member of the policy committee, the district improvement plan committee and the capital improvements advisory committee. Tokerud is the National Association of School Board director and is on the policy committee, SB-289 crisis management plan committee, joins Pape on the policy committee and is on the attendance committee as well as being assigned as liaison to the Regional Planning Commission. |
