DEATH VALLEY -- The Furnace Creek Fall Kickoff Classic, a three-phase golf tournament, will be played here Oct. 9-10-11.

The events are:

* Oct. 9 -- Men's and Mixed Scramble, 1 p.m. shotgun start;

* Oct. 10 -- Men's and Mixed Better Ball of Two, 7:30 a.m. shotgun start;

* Oct. 11 -- Men's and Mixed Chapman, 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.

* At the Executive course in Pahrump, a mixed scramble tournament on Aug. 18 was won by the team of Paul Woodard, Wayne Thomas, Bud Shock and Kay Carder.

In a Ladies Group event Aug. 19, Nancy Hoth, Cindy McGrath and Carol Olson were First Flight leaders.

In the Thursday Men's Group, a best ball event was won by Ken Yarnell, LeRoy Beadle and Ray Paul.

In the Friday Mixed Scramble, the winning team included Marvin Olson, Del Crandell, Larry Beadle and Irene VandenBosch.
