Scott Castle beats the 'Bond' car

Race cars were wheel-to-wheel on the Pahrump Valley Speedway's quarter-mile dirt oval Saturday night, when another big crowd watched seven feature races.

Scott Castle outraced the 007 car driven by Anthony Finley to win the Bomber feature at Pahrump Valley Speedway, where another big crowd watched seven main events and almost a dozen heat races on the smooth and slick quarter-mile dirt oval, on a warm, but calm Saturday night.

Jim Sherard was third, with Shannon Alkau, Kyle Renbarger, Jesse Day, Bryan Gerald, Steve Figgins, Harold Sherard and Brandon Oliver completing the grid.

Dan Fitzgerald, the award-winning school teacher from Las Vegas, won the modified main. Mark Allison was second, with Levi Kiefer third. Leland Hibdon, Jon Jensen, Robert Smotherman, Troy Ferrari and Eric Shenberger were also in the chase.

Bobby Meeks won the Dwarf car feature, with Scott Kelley second and Cecelia Dillie third. Mike Bean, Blake Olsen and Mark Dillie completed the top six.

Jonathan Burch was first in the mini-mod main, with Denny Howell second. Keith Young, John Dearborn, Rick Gast, Cassandra Martin, Bubba Ray and Cody Wilde were in the top eight.

Frank Bridwell won the classic couples feature, with Donnie Berger second, Ray Elam third, Michael Hildebrand fourth and Kiefer fifth.

Mike Lysinger won the pro stock feature, with Dan Snowden second. Anthony DeBiase, Steve Stringer and Pete Wallace were in the top five.

Track promoter Chad Broadhead got himself a win, beating son Anthony to the checkered flag. Jonathan Burch, Jabez Broadhead and Sue Smotherman were in the top five.

Completing the top 10 were Chris Eckhardt, Robert Pearson, John Burch, Mike Rifeler and Michael Brown.

NOTES -- Chad Broadhead's confidence in the speedway's potential success is illustrated on the Pahrump Valley Speedway Web site ... Races are scheduled every other week throughout the rest of 2009 and into 2010 ... The next show will be Aug. 15, starting at 7 p.m. ... Bomber heat winners were Jim Sherard and Anthony Finley ... In the modified division, Dan Fitzgerald and Jon Jensen prevailed ... Mark Dillie won the Dwarf car preliminary. Jonathan Burch was the mini-modified winner ... Donnie Berger was the classic coupe winner; Steve Stringer was first in the pro stocks, and John Burch and Sue Smotherman triumphed in the mini-stock heats.
