LAS VEGAS -- Pahrump Valley's fast-pitch softball team moved into a tie for sixth place in the Sunset Region Southwest Division Monday, with a 15-2 rout of Bishop Gorman at Majestic Park.

The Lady Trojans are 4-8 in the division, tying them with Sierra Vista for sixth place. Last Thursday, PVHS lost 16-15 to Sierra Vista in 12 innings in the completion of a slugfest suspended by darkness in March, then trounced the Mountain Lions 17-3 in the regularly-scheduled game.

Becca Gamble went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, and she also pitched a four-hitter to lead the Trojans past the Gaels. PV's girls swept the season series from Gorman; they won 15-5 at Floyd Field.

Pahrump Valley erased an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the third and put the game away with 10 runs in the seventh.

At Sierra Vista Thursday, Kaylene Sales and Breianna Koester scored on a fielder's choice in the 12th and the Mountain Lions outlasted Pahrump in a game suspended by darkness in the 11th inning March 27.

Pahrump scored once in the bottom of the 12th and had runners at the corners with two outs, but Sierra Vista pitcher Maria Capparelli induced a popout to end the game.

Gamble hit two home runs for the Trojans. Tranyce Rankin also homered, and Casey Scheller was 3-for-5. The game was tied 14-14 in the 11th inning when it was halted.

In the regularly-scheduled game, Taylor Raymer, Destini Codera, Scheller and Gamble had two hits each, and the Trojans broke open the game with six runs in the third and fourth innings. Codera tossed a five-hitter.

Petra Beighley had a triple for the winners, who outhit Gorman 12-4.

* In baseball, Bishop Gorman ran its winning streak to 26 games with a 19-2 conquest of Pahrump Valley (2-10, 5-18) at Cashman Field.

The Gaels (12-0 division, 28-3) led 16-0 after two innings and cruised past the Trojans. Gorman scored 10 runs in the second inning.

Gorman's Joey Gallo (three RBIs, including a two-run homer), Johnny Field (three RBIs) and Stephen Manthei (two RBIs) all went 3-for-3.

At Sierra Vista Thursday, the Mountain Lions (9-3, 21-4) had 10 extra-base hits in a 16-1 five-inning win against the Trojans.

Brooks Klein homered twice and finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs. Tommy Barnes went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs for Sierra Vista.
