Stand for Children Day

Nye Communities Coalition and St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church will sponsor the 10th annual Stand for Children/Teacher of the Year Program at 11:30 a.m. May 16 at Rosemary Clarke Middle School.

The program will include a luncheon, Teacher of the Year awards from each school and all-youth entertainment.

Art & Craft Show in Amargosa

The ninth annual Amargosa Valley Art & Craft Show will be held May 16 in the community center on Farm Road.

New Life Clinics Charitable Trust will offer a free weight loss and stress relief clinic 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Pahrump Community Library.

The Kiwanis Aktion Club will have its charter party at 6 p.m. May 1 at the Beehive Assisted Living facility, 1821 Ambush St.

Computer Users Group meets

The Pahrump Computer Users Group will meet at 1 p.m. May 4 in the large meeting room of the library.

Mike Irwin will speak about Apple i-Tunes. Don Norvell will discuss Windows Live and Office Live services and software products.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Membership is $5 and will be collected when those wanting to join check into the meeting, at which time, they will collect a raffle ticket.

Parking is urged in the rear of the library where there is ample space, Handicapped parking is still in front.

Fish fry

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will have a fish fry 4-7 p.m. May 1 in the parish hall, 781 E. Gamebird Road.

4-H Open House

The UNR Extension Southern Nye County 4-H Community Club will have an open house 9 a.m.-3 p.m., May 9 in the 4-H building at the extension office, 1651 E. Calvada Blvd.

There will be 4-H demonstrations and booths.

EAA meets

The Experimental Aircraft Association chapter No. 1160 will meet at 10 a.m. May 2 in Phil Shallenberger's hangar, corner of Jet Place and Helicopter Road in the Calvada Aeropark.

The program will feature a talk by Jim Rezelman on ICBMs, phase array radar and life aboard a spy ship off the coast of Siberia.

Wild horse audition

America's Wild Horse Advocates will sponsor a demonstration of the use of trained wild horses in service to Southern Nevada Mounted Police Units at 2 p.m. May 2 at McCullough Arena.

Taser, a wild horse from the Tule Lake area of Northern California and trained by Tom Shiloh, will be strutting his abilities for representatives of the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

The program is made possible by donations of concerned citizens, the National Mustang Association, America's Wild Horse Advocates and Nevada Horse Power.

Annual rummage sale

Saved by Grace Lutheran Church will have its annual rummage sale 8-3 p.m., May 1 and 2 at 1481 Gamebird Road.

Shots for tots

The Pahrump Rotary and the Nevada State Health Division will sponsor a shots for tots clinic 9-2 p.m. May 2 in the Pahrump Community Health Office, 250 N. Highway 160, Unit 6.

Bring the child's immunization record.

Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are preferred and may be made by calling 751-7070.

Help Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together, Pahrump Valley, will start work on two selected project homes at 8 a.m. May 2. The group meets in front of Home Depot.

Volunteers are needed and welcome.

Drinks and lunch will be provided for volunteers.
