The home of former Nye County Commissioner Peter Liakopoulos at 1020 Hickory St. is set to be auctioned off for a foreclosure during a trustee sale at 11 a.m. May 15 on the courthouse steps in Tonopah.

A legal notice published in the Pahrump Valley Times last Friday by National Default Servicing Corp. states Liakopoulos is in default for a deed of trust dated May 1, 2006.

A notice of default was recorded Jan. 23.

The balance of the obligation including other costs and expenses is $363,918.

Liakopoulos was elected in November 2006 but announced his resignation a little over two years later, on Nov. 24, 2008. He had been subject to a recall early in 2008, which was unsuccessful.

Last September, visiting Justice of the Peace Steven Dahl ruled there was probably cause to bind Liakopoulos over to trial on a felony count of bribery, a misdemeanor count of offering a reward for an appointment and grafting by a public officer.

Liakopouls pleaded not guilty, and a jury trial has been scheduled for 9 a.m., June 29.

He is rumored to be living in Oregon pending his trial.
