Trojans in losses to the BlazersPVT Pahrump Valley wasted another strong pitching performance by senior righthander Mike Gonzalez Wednesday, in losing 5-3 to visiting Las Vegas Durango in a Southwest Class 4-A Division baseball game. Gonzalez allowed only six hits, but the Trojans were stopped on four hits by Billy Richardson and Danny Reynolds. Richardson allowed three unearned runs on four hits in six innings. He struck out nine. Reynolds came on in the seventh and struck out the side to earn a save. The Trojans played at Sierra Vista Thursday and will go to Cashman Field in Las Vegas Monday to battle division-leading Bishop Gorman (3:30 p.m.) In fast-pitch softball at Floyd Field, division-leading Durango won 10-0, behind the pitching and hitting of Ashley Hall. The righthander struck out six and allowed only one hit -- a double by Petra Beighley -- and sparked the TrailBlazers' offense with two home runs. Pahrump Valley played at Sierra Vista Wednesday, completing a game suspended by darkness March 27 and taking on the Mountain Lions in a division contest. Monday, the Trojans go to Majestic Park in northwest Las Vegas to play Gorman. In other baseball games Wednesday: Sierra Vista 10, Desert Oasis 0 -- At Sierra Vista, Brooks Klein hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help the Mountain Lions to the five-inning win over the Diamondbacks. Sierra Vista's Tommy Barnes was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Bonanza 16, Western 0 -- At Bonanza, Heriberto Orozco tossed a one-hitter and went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Bengals to a rout of the Warriors. Hunter Davidson was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Bonanza, and Kris Bryant went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs. Gorman 9, Spring Valley 2 -- At Spring Valley, Stephen Manthei fired a three-hitter in Gorman's 9-2 win over the host Grizzlies. The win was the 24th in a row for the Gaels (25-3, 9-0 Southwest) and kept them two games up on Sierra Vista in the league standings. It also snapped a nine-game winning streak for Spring Valley (18-5, 7-3), which fell into third place. In softball: Desert Oasis 13, Sierra Vista 9 -- At Sierra Vista, Lenzi Cram went 3-for-3 with two triples, a double, three runs and two RBIs as the Diamondbacks built a 12-2 lead and held off the Mountain Lions. Sierra Vista's Ashley Krumme was 4-for-4 with four runs, and teammmate Maria Capparelli was 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Spring Valley 10, Gorman 7 -- At Spring Valley, Jasmine Wilson hit a two-run double in a five-run sixth inning to lead the Grizzlies past the Gaels. Gorman's Claudia Franco was 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run and five RBIs. Bonanza 10, Western 0 -- At Bonanza, the Bengals scored nine runs in the first inning en route to the win. Alex Teed was 2-for-2 with a double for the Bengals.
