Trojans stop Gaels in 4-A 9-hole match

Shane Lindemann and Elliot Owens each carded 3-over 39 to lead Pahrump Valley to a 207-214 victory against Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, Monday at Bear's Best.

Michael Wolf shot 41 for the Gaels in the Sunset Region non-division 9-hole boys golf match.

In the Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division golf standings, Bonanza is first with 28 points and a 422 strokes per 18 holes average.

Gorman is second at 28, 423 and PVHS is third at 435.7 and 23 points.

Sierra Vista is at 21, 445.3; Spring Valley fifth at 20, 449, Desert Oasis at 15, 466.3 and Clark seventh at 12, 539. Durango and Western do not have boys' golf teams this spring.

Elsewhere:

Greg Kerber and Brad Rowland each shot 1-under-par 71s Monday at Silverstone to lead Centennial to victory in a Sunset Region Northwest League match.

The Bulldogs had a team score of 373, one stroke better than Palo Verde. Arbor View was third at 401.

Palo Verde's Kyle Melchiorre was the medalist with a 69, and teammate Errek McClellan added a 71.

Arbor View's Zane Thomas shot 70.

In the Northwest standings, Centennial is first with 20 points and a 411.5 strokes per 18 holes average.

Palo Verde is at 18, 415.5; Arbor View 16, 446; Shadow Ridge 13, 500; Cimarron-Memorial 12, 508; Legacy 11, 511; Cheyenne 4, 637 and Mojave 3, 672.

* The Sunset Class 4-A regional boys golf tournament starts May 13 at The Badlands and concludes May 14 at Mountain Falls.

The Sunrise 4-A playoffs start at Dragon Ridge May 13 and closes at Mountain Falls the next day.

The state tournament is May 20-21 at the Red Hawk Lakes course in Sparks.

* In the Sunrise standings, Henderson Coronado leads the Southeast Division with 30 points and a southern Nevada Class 4-A best 374.7 strokes per 18 holes.

Green Valley (27, 406), Foothill (23, 460.5), Silverado (21, 477.7), Basic (17, 506.7), Liberty (15, 535.7) and Del Sol (14, 549.3) complete the Southeast standings. Vo-Tech does not have a team.

In the Northeast Division, Las Vegas is first at 30 points, 394.7 strokes per 18 holes.

Trailing are Desert Pines (26, 484.5), Rancho (24, 526.3) and Valley (15, 540.5). Canyon Springs, Chapparal and Eldorado do not have teams.
