By DON McDERMOTT
The Pahrump Nugget Free Roll Poker Championship tournament, with $32,585 at stake, will be played Saturday. "Shuffle up and deal!" for the Texas no-limit hold'em tournament will be at 7 p.m. in the Nugget poker room, with 39 players -- each a winner of at least one weekly $1,500 qualifier -- to start. Those 52 weekly events paid out $78,000 in prize money, boosting the overall value of the year-long tournament to $110,585. The winner Saturday will earn $12,000, with $9,000 going to the runnerup. Third place is worth $6,000 and fourth place $3,000. An additional $2,585 will be divided among other final table players, according to tournament director Jeff Von Alst. The qualifiers are: * Joan Sands; * Ron Pomeroy; * Gil Kamstra; * Steve Raches; * Rusty Rivas; * Larry Robinson; * Jim Gianino; * Rollie Batayola; * Dave Von Alst; * Nick Peolar; * Todd Bock; * Harvey Dellett; * Doug Gregory; * Rupert Hodnett; * Tom Duke; * Blackie Harms; * Frank Kost; * Bob Black; * Mike Sisk; * DeMarco Estrada; * Pam Nygren; * Ron Nygren; * Jack Seballos; * Rob Lisull; * Frank Polansky; * Ben Estrada; * Diana Robertson; * Blake Lozo; * Butch Dole; * Richard Deutch; * Jackie Polansky; * Rene Soto; * Noy Patac; * Ray Hazelwood; * Tony Fisher; * Lou DeCanio; * Nicole Nygren; * Rich Richie. Each player will receive $5,000 in chips at the start. Two players -- Rivas and Dave Von Alst -- will get an additional $3,000 in chips because they won four of the weekly qualifiers. Earning an additional $2,000 was Black, who was first in three tournaments. |
