The schedule for Family to Family Connection for February.

Family to Family Connection will hold a family day noon-2 p.m., April 24 at the Pahrump Community Library.

There will be arts and crafts, face painting, child abuse prevention education, dental screening and more.

Examinations for amateur radio licenses will be held at noon, April 25 in the Nye County Emergency Management Building, 1510 E. Siri Lane.

BLM open house

The Bureau of Land Management Pahrump Field Office will host an open house 5:30-7:30 p.m., April 22 in the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Patrick Putnam will be on hand to help the BLM become acquainted with Southern Nye County.

Model train meeting

The Pahrump Valley Model Train Club will meet at 9 a.m., April 25 at the United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Highway 372.

All train enthusiasts are welcome.

Library summer reading

The Pahrump Community Library Summer Reading Club is coming soon.

Signup now for "Be Creative at Your Library," June 16-July 22.

A kick-off presentation with storyteller Glenda Bonin, "Just imagine: Stories for the fun of it," will be 10 a.m. June 16.

Regular classes will begin the following week: ages 4-5, 9-10 a.m., Wednesday; ages 6-11, 1-2:15 p.m., Tuesdays or 10:30-11:45 a.m., Wednesdays; fifth grade and up, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Tuesdays.

Laureate Omicron

The Laureate Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 1:30 p.m., April 27 in the home of Vickie Brady.

Cindy Sepulveda will present the cultural program "Recipe for Friendship."

Guests are welcome.

Members and guests will tour Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge May 9 to celebrate Mother's Day with a picnic and lunch on the grounds.

The Pahrump Valley Community Action Team will met at 9:15 a.m., April 22 in the Chamber of Commerce office on Highway 160.

The topic for discussion will be the annual Family Hoedown to be held June 13, and the clean-up and beautification projects for Highway 160.

Red Hats

The sixth annual Red Hat Picnic/birthday party will be at noon May 18 at Campton Park.

The entertainment this year will be a Red Hat flea market. Bring items to trade, sell or barter and a picnic lunch.

RCMS 6th grade orientation

Fifth grade students will attend a 6th grade orientation for the 2009-2010 school year 9-11:30 a.m., through April 24.

Wednesday, J.G. Johnson Elementary; Thursday, Manse Elementary and Friday, Hafen Elementary.

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend but must stop by the front office to sign in no later than 8:50 a.m. A second parent and student orientation will be sat 6 p.m. April 20 for parents unable to attend the earlier sessions.

Special Catholic Mass

Most Reverend Joseph A. Pepe, Bishop of Las Vegas, will celebrate mass at 10:30 a.m., April 26 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 781 E. Gamebird Road.

Ten young people will receive sacrament of confirmation.

There will only be one mass.

Kindergarten round-up

Kindergarten fall registration for children entering any Pahrump school will be 9-2 p.m. April 27, in the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Kid "wranglers" will escort parents and children to the state health nurse who will administer immunizations as needed.

Bring immunization records, birth certificates and proof of residence; utility bill or rental agreement is acceptable.

Parent or guardian should bring photo ID and legal documents if applicable.

There will be face painting and treats for the children.

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 1 p.m., April 23 in Room A of the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Faith Fellowship will sponsor a free employment seminar, "How to Land a Job in Las Vegas: Don't Gamble with Your Career," at 10 a.m. April 25 at the church, 925 S. Highway 160.

Guest speaker will be Scott Linklater to outline keys to landing a job and answer questions about job hunting.

Free child care for job hunters

Child's Play Learning Center is offering free "drop-in" child care for those seeking employment.

The service will begin April 20 . A current immunization record is required and space is limited.

Two hours is the maximum service and two visits per child.

The first show of the year will begin at 9 a.m. April 25 in McCullough Arena.

Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church will hold its spring/summer rummage sale 8-4 p.m., May 1 and 8-1 p.m. May 2, at the church, 1300 E. Highway 372.

There will be furniture, books, household items, clothing, linens, toys and crafts.
