Meet the Ombudsman LAS VEGAS -- The real estate division has scheduled "Meet the Ombudsman" event at 11 a.m. April 17 in the Bob Ruud Community Center. Sessions last for about two hours. The events are designed to help homeowners association residents understand their rights and responsibilities and the role of the Nevada Office of the Ombudsman in resolving disputes. Ombudsman Lindsay Waite and education officer, Nick Haley will present information on services. HOA residents will learn how to conduct business and be able to ask questions. Food drive Nye County Emergency Services will hold a food drive 10-2 p.m.; April 24 in the parking lot of Smith's Food and Drug on Highway 160. Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable items including peanut butter, rice, jellies, noodles and canned meats, fruit, soups and vegetables in an effort to keep the food banks full. Among the many items for sale will be household and office supplies and scrapbooking materials. All items were donated and most are brand new. Nothing will be over $5. Skate against cancer Pahrump Valley High School will host a fundraiser from 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 26 at Skate Zone. This event is open to everyone and is to raise money for our Relay for Life team. Coin Club meets The recently formed Pahrump Valley Coin Club will meet at 10 a.m. May 2 in the UNR Cooperative Extension office, corner of Dandelion Street and Calvada Boulevard. Chamber calendar \0x2022 Biz Expo kick-off and membership mixer There will be a kick-off breakfast and mixer at 8:30 a.m., April 23 in the events center of the Pahrump Nugget. Biz Expo exhibitors admitted free with a ticket. The keynote speaker will be Tom Saitta, business owner/entrepreneur/entertainer. The cost is $10 for members not exhibiting in the Expo and $20 for non-members. This is the premier event sponsored by the chamber and it is a great time to showcase a business to the community. Admission to the public is free. PVCC members should contact the chamber, 727-5800, to reserve a space. \0x2022 Biz Expo April 24-25 This is the largest trade show in rural Southern Nevada. The hours will be noon-7 p.m., Friday and 9-7 p.m., Saturday. Admission is free. Lions scholarships The Pahrump Valley Lions Club is now accepting scholarship applications from seniors graduating Pahrump Valley High School in June 2009. Help Rebuilding Together Rebuilding Together, Pahrump Valley, will start work on two selected project homes at 8 a.m. May 2. The group meets in front of Home Depot. Volunteers are needed and welcome. RCMS 6th grade orientation Fifth grade students will attend a sixth grade orientation for the 2009-2010 school year 9-11:30 a.m., during the week of April 20-24. Monday, Mt. The region VII event extends to Las Vegas and Pahrump. Largely a veterans group, they will visit the G.G.
