GINA B. GOOD / PVT Jaitee Pitts, 16, a senior at Pahrump Valley High School, received a standing ovation at the Nye County School District Board of Trustees meeting on April 9. Pitts competed against more than 1,200 students from 14 Nevada school districts, taking second place in the Poetry Out Loud competition held in March. Superintendent Rob Roberts told her, "You are the reason we all do what we do."
