Sounjgae Beak of Desert Oasis was medalist with a one-over par 74-71--145, while Zane Thomas of Arbor View was second with 72-75--147. Centennial Blue's Greg Karber had 74-76--150, with teammates Jake Barton at 76-76--152, Zach Chyz at 75-85--160 and Brad Rowland at 79-81--160. Palo Verde's Kyle Melchiorri shot 71 on the first day, but skied to an 84 Tuesday to finish at 155. Erek McClellan had 76-82--158 for Palo Verde. The 71s by Melchiorri, Steven Kennedy of Desert Oasis and Beak are single-round records. For Pahrump Valley's Gold team, Shane Lindemann had 79-76--155, Dorian Patel 80-76--156, Daniel Shimakawa 75-92--167 and Josh Spradlin 93-104--197. Soda Springs, a former Idaho Class 2-A state champion, won the Silver Flight team title with 350-336--686, with Sedona (Ariz.) Red Rock taking the Maroon Flight trophy with 359-344--703. Silver Flight medalist with 86-71--157 was Steven Kennedy of Desert Oasis. Zane Milne of Bonanza had 92-87--179 for the Maroon Flight medal. NOTES -- A total of 91 players competed, including Denver Otteson of Class A Tonopah. He had 88-86--174 to finish 14th in the Silver Flight. ... Teammates Chris Greber and Alex Bridgman added 106-94--200 and 122-122--244, respectively. ... The weather was almost perfect on Monday with temperatures in the 70s and barely a whisper of wind, but wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour -- and one which created a nasty-looking, 100-foot high dust devil -- affected play for several players Tuesday. |
