Trojans tie for second in 4-A golf matchPVT
Pahrump Valley had two of the top nine golfers in a Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division boys' golf match Thursday at Mountain Falls, as the Trojans tied Las Vegas Bonanza for second place. Both PVHS and Bonanza shot 417s, as Bishop Gorman prevailed with 412 on the par 72, 6,608-yard Mountain Falls course. For Coach Bob Hopkins' PVHS team, Shane Lindemann had 78 and Dorian Patel 79. Completing the scoring were Daniel Shimakawa, 82; Elliott Owens, 84, and Josh Spradlin, 94. Ryan Hammar had 110 in a non-scoring round. For Gorman, Nick Sikorski had 73, Connor Morris 79, Rod Bigelow 85, Scott Martin 87, Mike Wold 88 and Hank Sikorski 90. For Bonanza, Zane Milne had 78, Yongsoo Shin 79, Joey McGrath 84, Minsoo Kim 87, Sean McGrath 89 and Jesse Hunt 106. Spring Valley (433), Sierra Vista (441), Desert Oasis (450) and Clark (527) completed the field. Durango and Western did not have teams. Sierra Vista's Jacob Pinney had 73, with Jay Singharath of Desert Oasis finishing at 75. Steven Kennedy and Soungjae Beak of Desert Oasis both shot 80s. The next Southwest match is April 14 at Rhodes Ranch, with Durango the host team. The first tee time is 11 a.m. There are 4-A matches April 21 at Red Rock Arroyo, April 28 at Angel Park and May 7 at Primm. The 36-hole Sunset Regionals will be played May 13-14; first-day action, beginning at 1 p.m., will be at the Badlands (9119 Alta Drive), with the tournament to conclude May 14 at Mountain Falls. To get to Day Two of the regionals, teams must be in the top three in the first-day standings; individuals must be in the top eight on the non-qualifying teams list. The top two teams and the top five individuals off non-qualifying teams advance to the state tournament. The Resort at Red Hawk in Sparks (6600 N. Wingfield Parkway) will host the state tournament May 20-21. |
