A local team came in earlier this week to take down this evergreen on the island in the Calvada duck pond, which appeared to be more "ever-dead" and likely to cause problems if not dealt with. Several mulberry trees will provide shade, and there are plans afoot to rejuvenate the pond as well as the island.

The tree was hardly flattened before at least one turtle, at right, decided to make use of it for some sunning.
