The Easter Bunny contacted Walmart, Pahrump and the Pahrump Kiwanis Club to sponsor his trip to Pahrump for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, to be held 9 a.m., April 11 in Petrack Park.

Carlton McCaslin, spokesman for the Easter Bunny, said, "This is the ninth year we've done the Easter Egg Hunt.

"We've got over 2,000 eggs, last count, and we may get a few more."

The event is a hit every year according to McCaslin. "You (the children) don't want to be late for this. It starts at nine and the park is clean by 9:05." He laughed, "The point is ... it goes fast."

The eggs are plastic and some of them came pre-filled with candy. The others will have to be filled by volunteers.

McCaslin said the Easter Bunny used to have help from one of the Boy Scout troops, which has since dissolved. He said he may have to enlist the help of another Scout Troop in order to get the job done.

One of the plastic eggs will contain not only candy, but also a slip of paper stating the finder of said egg is the winner of a new bicycle.

There are also Easter baskets to be given away as prizes. And, according to McCaslin, those who don't find eggs will still get candy.

The hunt will be broken down by age groups, younger children first. The age for participants is 0 to 10 with abundant photo opportunities for the parents.

There will also be a special area set aside for those who are mentally or physically challenged.

The Easter Bunny will be there to oversee the event.
