April events spring up everywhere

Springtime in the desert brings perfect weather and with it come more events and fundraisers than one can possibly hope to attend.

This is a short list to help you plan the weekend.

* The Acoustic Grass Music Festival is scheduled today through Sunday with the times being 1-7 p.m., today; 8-7 p.m. Saturday with a jam session continuing at the Pahrump Nugget; 9-3 p.m. Sunday.

There will be music, raffles, contests, vendors and food.

* Shoshone is hosting the annual Desert Arts and Crafts Show today through Sunday.

The event includes an art show in the Flowers Building which will continue through April 11. The event will host craft vendors with jewelry, clothing, home accessories, quilts, pottery and other gifts. The hours are 9-4 p.m. each day.

* The Chamber of Commerce Rock Around the Clock Sock Hop and Classic Car Show will be 10-4 p.m. at Pahrump Auto Mall on East Charleston Park Avenue.

Along with the car show, there will be 1950s and '60s music, dance contests, raffles, games, prizes, food and prizes.

* Michael Cagle from Las Vegas, will be in concert at the Maverick. He is a known singer and theatrical artist in Las Vegas and is bringing other acts with him to perform in two shows.

The first will be Cagle by himself. The later show will include his band and some stand-up comedy.

Shows are 7 and 9 p.m.

* Artisans need to remember the Art & Sol festival is scheduled for May 9 and 10. The call for entries is out.

Contact the Pahrump Arts Council Art & Sol Committee, Willi Baer, 727-6052, or Muriel, 727-5134 to have works displayed.

* Faith Fellowship will host a free-for-all-ages concert at 6 p.m., on Sunday.

The concert will feature all types of music; indie rock/spoken word, folk/inspirational and spiritual.

There will also be a showing of the film "The Disc."

The church is located in Wheeler Springs Plaza, Unit 401.

* The Spring Mountain Art Guild and the Pahrump Arts Council will sponsor the Visual Artist's get together 1-3 p.m. on Saturday in the Pahrump Community Library meeting room.

There will be a talk by Terry Harvey on painting in general and batik on paper.

Attendees are invited to bring a favorite work to share.

Prizes will be awarded for first- second- and third-place.
