Author's Extravaganza The Pahrump Community Library will host the annual Author's Extravaganza at the library 9-5 p.m. April 11. Meet and greet local authors, and have a chance to purchase their books and get their autograph. Authors will include: Chuck Baker, Evelyn Tankersley, Vivian Owen, John McDonald, Alice Nobel, Tumbleweed Tale Society, George Strictland, John Salacon, Dick Senior, Michael Hazard, Becky Davis, Mike Donahue, Laraine Russo Harper, Kay Plaskon, John Michael Stuart, Stephen Nasser, Jennifer Allee, Dan Rodriguez, Dan Dorby, Oasis Reader's Guild, and Ms. Andresen's kindergarten class. Authors interested in participating should call 727-5930, ext. 12. Rockhounds meet The Rockhounds of Pahrump will meet at 6 p.m. April 6 at the 4-H building on Dandelion Street and Calvada Boulevard. Call 751-9186 for more information. Haven Selah Haven Selah will have Dances of Universal Peace at 1 p.m. April 4 at 1680 N. Blagg Road. Two monks from Deer Park Monastery, in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh will join the dancers. Phrases and movements are easy to learn. Translation will be provided. Donations are accepted and there is a vegetarian pot luck after the dances. Call 727-8633 for more information. Singles Club meets The Pahrump Singles Friendship Club will meet on the following schedule: April 3 -- Red Sky BBQ, 5 p.m. April 7 -- Galiano's American Grill, 5 p.m. April 16 -- Wulfy's, 5 p.m., celebrating birthdays. Ms. Senior Nye County Pageant The Ms. Senior Nye County Pageant will be held April 18 at the Maverick, 340 E. Mesquite Ave. The pageant is open to all ladies who have reached the elegant age of 60-plus. Dancers, singers, comedy acts, poets, etc. are needed. Everyone has a talent. Contact Scotty, 727-0309, Val, 537-0468, or Teri, 764-0006, for more information. Easter Eve Dinner There will be a community Easter Eve Dinner 3-6 p.m. April 11 in the Bob Ruud Community Center. Easter Sunday trail ride Petra/Faith Fellowship will sponsor a three-hour trail ride up Wheeler Wash on Easter Sunday to benefit Nathan Adelson Hospice. Registration will be 7:30-8 a.m. at the Faith Fellowship Church in Wheeler Spring Plaza, 921 S. Highway 160, No. 401. There will be a chili and corn bread lunch served at noon. 'Show and Shine' The Valley Cruisers of Pahrump will host the 14th annual Over the Hump to Pahrump Show and Shine auto parts swap meet April 25 on the grass at Petrack Park. Registration is 7 a.m.-noon and the car show is 8-4 p.m. There will be a poker walk, food, raffles, games and music. Proceeds benefit local youth groups. Call 751-8912 or 751-0994, for more information. PV Garden Club Landscape Tour Tickets are now on sale for the Pahrump Valley Garden Club landscape tour scheduled 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 25. Tickets for the tour are $6. There will be a separate 50/50 drawing. Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or six for $5. All tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce, Secret Sisters Boutique, UNR Cooperative Extension Office or call Cherry, 751-4785. Pahrump Town Clean Up The annual Pahrump Town Clean Up will be April 25. Trash bags and vest will be handed out 7 a.m.-noon at Honeysuckle Park. Signup at the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce or call 727-5800 to take part in the 98 miles of roads to be cleaned. Call 209-4390 for more information. Earth Day Festival Earth Day is officially celebrated on April 22 and Pahrump will celebrate the seventh annual Earth Day Festival 10-4 p.m. April 25, in Honeysuckle Park. The celebration will again partner with Town Clean Up day and will be a chance for residents to learn from local environmentally friendly businesses. There will be information available on desert living, recycling, green energy and other topics of environmental interest. Live music provided by D'Nile, games, demonstrations, a raffle will be on tap. The VFW will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and local Native American youth will serve fry bread and soft drinks. The Pahrump Valley Times wants to know about your event. Tell us if you're having a concert, live music, outdoor movies, parties, art shows etc., and we will help you make it known.
