Trail ride benefits Nathan Adelson
By CHARLENE DEAN
Horseback riders can have fun and benefit a good cause by taking part in the Easter Sunday trail ride sponsored by Pahrump Equine Trail Riding Association (PETRA) and Faith Fellowship. Riders will gather at Faith Fellowship, located in Wheeler Springs Plaza on Highway 160. The ride will start around 8:30 a.m. and last about three hours. The plan is to traverse Wheeler Wash and have a short spiritual ceremony at the halfway mark. When the group returns to Wheeler Springs Plaza, a lunch of chili and corn bread should be ready for the hungry riders. For folks waiting for the riders to return, Faith Fellowship will provide activities. They are also welcome to have lunch for a donation of $5. The cost of participating on horseback is $25 per rider. Jim Hannah, the trail boss for the excursion said they have registered about 15 riders so far. "There's room for more," he said. "We have enough staff to provide safety for at least 30 riders. It won't be a problem." PETRA will provide support staff for the riders to be sure no one is left behind or lost. PETRA is also seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsorship is $100. For more information about the ride or to become a sponsor, call Hannah, 702-327-5414, or Micki, 764-1127. To learn more about Nathan Adelson Hospice, call Tony Brum, 751-5601. |
