BASEBALL Beatty sweeps AlamoPVT
ALAMO -- Beatty scored 45 runs on 27 hits in 12 innings as the visiting Hornets routed Pahranagat Valley 27-1 and 18-11 in Class A baseball Friday. The Hornets, 9-1, overcame 4-2 and 7-5 leads to win the nightcap against the Panthers. In the first game, Beatty scored in all five innings, including 11 in the fifth. Alamo complicated its efforts by committing 15 errors in the twin bill. In the first game, Joe Serrano was 4-for-6 with four runs batted in, with Isiah Flores scoring six runs and driving in five as he went 4-for-4. Alamo got only six hits off two Beatty pitchers, who combined for four strikeouts and one walk in the game stopped after five innings by the mercy rule. In the second game, Beatty scored four runs in the sixth and six in the seventh to hold off Alamo, which put together a 13-hit attack to keep the pressure on the Hornets. Serrano was 2-for-5 with two RBI, with Flores going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Jacob Sumpter had four hits in the doubleheader, driving in two runs. Beatty is at Big Pine Saturday, then opens the Nevada Class A Central Division season April 10 with a doubleheader at Indian Springs. Beatty has the Central Division's best record at 9-1. Indian Springs is 3-2, Round Mountain 5-4, Tonopah 2-4 and Spring Mountain 0-3. * Beatty's fast-pitch softball team, 0-2, plays its Southern League opener Friday at Lake Mead Christian Academy. Saturday, the Lady Hornets go to Big Pine, Calif., for a doubleheader. Other league dates for Beatty are April 10 (Round Mountain), April 24 (Tonopah), May 1 (at Alamo) and May 8 (at Henderson International). Tonopah is 2-0 in the league, 3-3 in all games. Other record are Indian Sp rings, 3-1, 4-2; Lake Mead 3-1, 4-7; Alamo 0-0, 1-4; Round Mountain 0-2, 0-4 and Sandy Valley 0-2, 0-6.
