Shakespeare Made Simple will be held 10 a.m.-noon the 3rd Saturday of each month, Tuesdays 4-6 p.m., is Shakespeare Readers' Theatre. Both are free and open to all ages. There will be no movie day in September due to the Fall Festival. Movies will resume in October. Coat donations Kaye's Allstate Insurance located in the Albertson's Shopping Center is accepting slightly used and new coats for the Pahrump Kiwanis Club to provide for our community needs. Coats may be dropped at the office from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday from Sept. 15 through Nov. 15. New animal shelter hours The Nye County Animal Shelter will be open 10-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. It will be closed on Sunday. Military soldiers and families "The Ladies Network: Making a Difference," would like to meet U.S. military active soldiers and their families, to find out more about supporting the troops. Wal-Mart Wall of Heros If you have a picture of someone who has served or is serving in the military, and would like a picture displayed on the south wall, bring an 8x10 photo with the first and last name, branch of service, dates of service, and phone number. Add $2 for the frame and drop all the information at the customer service desk. This is a stand alone project not affiliated with any other project or organization. Power wheelchairs The Senior Wheels USA program makes power wheelchairs available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to recipients if they qualify. Power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk or self-propel a manual wheelchair and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. No deposit is required. If the patient's need is for use in the home, call 1-800-246-6010. Free drug tests Teen Care provides free drug tests for the children of concerned parents and guardians. The test detects marijuana, cocaine, meth, opiates, amphetamines and more. All services are free and confidential. Teen Care provides Christian help for teens involved with drugs or alcohol. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday. Call 727-9911 for more information. Retired/senior program The Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteers need help. This program enables the elderly to stay in their homes by assisting with daily maintenance such as shopping, medical appointments, etc. RSVP reimburses volunteers 24 cents per mile up to $20 per month and carries worker's compensation and excess auto liability on all volunteers. Additionally, volunteers receive training, annual seminar education and appreciation award dinners. To volunteer or get more information, call Jan Lindsay at 751-5282. Angels Have Wheels All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disorders and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they may be eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. For information on Medicare eligibility contact Gregory at 1-800-810-2877. VA van A van is available to veterans needing transportation to the Veterans Administration Clinic in Pahrump. Casting call The Methodologies Project needs volunteer actors for a new commercial illustrating the dangers of methamphetamine use. The shooting date will be in November. DAV Mobile Service Office There will be help for veterans who feel confused about the benefits and services they have earned. There is much to know and changes from one year to the next.
