Teen night The NyE Communities Coalition and St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church will host a teen night 6-9 p.m. Sept. 26 at Seemoore's Too! Middle school through high school students are invited for an evening of karaoke, free food and games. Call Julie Platson, 537-1115, or the NyE Communities Coalition, 727-9970 for more information. Tailgate party The PVHS Athletic Booster Club will sponsor a tailgate party starting at 5 p.m. Friday, in the parking lot behind the weight room at the high school. The cost is $10 per car and tailgaters may bring food, but the price of entry also buys a hot dog or hamburger platter. They will be selling barbecue and other concessions as well. The event will end around 6:30 to allow party goers to get to the game on time. Bones & Brew Cook-off The Pahrump Elks will host the Bones & Brew Cook-off Oct. 25 at the lodge, 2220 Basin Road, one mile east of Highway 160. There will be food, a no-host bar, games, entertainment, door prizes and an awards presentation. The event is open to the public. Contest rules and applications are available at the lodge or by calling Ed, 727-9823. Art in the Park 2008 The event dates for Art in the Park are 9-5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5. For more information go to artinthepark.org. Scrabble players New resident seeks scrabble players for afternoon or evening games. Call 727-4911 for more information. Library fall reading program Pahrump Community Library's fall reading program, "Dino Tails," will begin Oct. 15. Classes are Tiny Dinos (ages 2-3), Wednesdays 9:15-9:45 a.m. (parent must accompany child); T-rex Tails (ages 4-5), Wednesdays 10-10:45 a.m.; Story Osaurus (ages 6-12), Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.; and Teens (fifth grade and up), Thursdays 3-4 p.m. There is no fee to attend the program and no prior sign up necessary. The program will run through Dec. 17 with no classes during the week of Thanksgiving. Call 727-5930, ext. 21, for more information. Dances of Universal Peace Haven Selah will sponsor Dances of Universal Peace at 1 p.m. Oct. 4., 1680 N. Blagg Road. The thread through the traditions is to attain inner and outer peace for the family, the community, the nation and the world. Phrases are simple and easy to learn. The public is welcome. Country music jamboree The Nevada Country Music Association will hold a jamboree 10-6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Short Branch Saloon in Crystal. The all-day event will feature food, karaoke, dancing, bands, prizes, appearances by the Pahrump and Beatty gunfighters and a meet and greet candidates forum. Clogging lessons The Sun Country Cloggers will offer clog dance classes for beginners, intermediate and intermediate-plus at Donna's Studio of Dance. Lessons are for ages 8 through seniors. Silver Tappers want you The Nevada Silver Tappers will hold beginning tap dance lessons for women who have reached the elegant age of 50 starting Oct. 7 with a morning class, and, if there is enough interest, an evening class will be offered Oct. 9. The Nevada Silver Tappers are a group of senior ladies dedicated to serving the community with performances to raise funds for nonprofits and for those less fortunate. Holiday sale The Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church will hold a special holiday sale 8-2 p.m. Oct. 4 in the RC building at the church, 1300 E. Highway 372.
