Lorie Wallace

Lorie Wallace, 53, passed away Oct. 7, 2008, at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

She was born March 3, 1955, in Las Vegas and was a lifelong resident of the area.

She was a retired bartender.

Lorie is survived by husband Daniel Wallace of Las Vegas; companion Tony Boland of Las Vegas; daughter Leslie Gehring of Las Vegas; grandsons Wacey Gehring, Colton Raitt and Eric D. Stephens, all of Las Vegas; granddaughter Betty Jane Ellen Gehring of Las Vegas; sisters Sherry Newman of Las Vegas, Pamela Gonzales of Pahrump and Mary Teresa Wells of Henderson and grandmother Mary Shedd of Reno.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, in Las Vegas. (10/07/2008)

Thomas L. MacAdam

Pastor Thomas L. MacAdam passed away Oct. 9, 2008, in Pahrump.

He was born April 18, 1932.

He married Norma on Nov. 14, 1971, at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif. Together, they raised six children.

Thomas was a Lutheran minister for more than 50 years, celebrating his ordination on May 28.

He served two Ohio churches in Manchester and Cambridge.

In June 1969, he joined the military as a chaplain for the U.S. Navy, and served in West Pac on the USS Juneau and the USS Sacramento.

After his retirement in 1989, he was called to Goldendale, Wash., to serve as pastor at Christ the King Church. He retired for the second time in May 1997, and he and Norma moved to Pahrump where he could play golf year around.

In Pahrump, he and Norma served seven years on the No To Abuse board and they were active in the Kiwanis Club as well; both of them serving as president and board members.

Called again to the church, he served five years as pastor for Saved by Grace Lutheran Church. He retired for the third time after learning he had leukemia.

Thomas is survived by his wife Norma; sons Jeff (Rhonda) McCollum, Mathew (Pat) McCollum and Kevin (Terri) MacAdam; daughters DeMaris Duran, Deborah (Dave) Brim and Cindy (Dave) Haberman; granddaughters Cara, Heather, Angela, Beth and Nicole and great-grandchildren Gabriela and Marcelo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Services have not yet been scheduled. (10/09/2008)

Samathia Jean Smith

Samathia Jean Smith, 32, passed away Oct. 6, 2008, at her home in Pahrump.

She was born April 2, 1976, in Ohio.

She was much loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Samathia's stories and her joking manner will be remembered forever. She was always willing to go out of her way to make sure others were happy.

She is survived by her husband, David Smith; sons Kent "KJ" Joseph Stone and Jordan Joseph Stone; mother Emma Jean ( Kent "Tony") Bigelow; sister Danielle Jean Vashon and brother Rodrik Joseph Stone.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Samuel Stone and brother Frank Marshall Stone.

No formal services will be held, but a private wake of family and friends will be scheduled for a later date. (10/06/2008)
