Beta Xi garage sale

The Beta Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold their annual garage sale 8-4 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11, 1871 S. Burgundy Dr. in the winery area.

EAA Eagles Rally

The Pahrump chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its fourth Young Eagles Rally 9-1 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Calvada Aeropark, corner of Simpkins Road and Highway 160.

The purpose is to give children 8-17 free airplane rides in the local area. Last year 93 kids rode.

Parents or legal guardians must accompany the child to the airport and remain until their child has flown.

Please bring chairs.

Water and soft drinks will be available as well as portable toilet facilities.

Pet adoption fee increase

Due to the increase in animals at the Nye County Animal Shelter and the expenses in caring for them, the fees will increase.

Beginning Nov. 1, the fees for adopting a dog will be $85 and the fees for adopting a cat or kitten will be $55.

Fees include spay/neuter, vaccination, rabies shot, a bag of food and one-year county license.

Beta Xi meets

Amateur Radio license exam

The examination for Amateur Radio licenses will be at noon, Oct. 18 in the Nye County Office of Emergency Management, 1510 Siri Lane.

Desert View flu clinics

Desert View Hospital will sponsor the 2nd annual flu clinic:

Oct. 9 -- 8-11 a.m.

Oct. 15 -- 4-7 p.m.

Oct. 22 -- 8-11 a.m.

Oct. 29 -- 4-7 p.m.

The walk-in clinics will be held in the main lobby of the hospital, 360 S. Lola Lane.

It will be free for Medicare Part B recipients; however participants may not be a part of any Medicare Advantage program such as Senior Dimensions, Secure Horizons, Aetna, etc.

The fee will be $20 for the public.

It's not too late to register to vote

The League of Women Voters of Pahrump wants the public to know it isn't too late to register to vote in the general election Nov. 4.

The Nye County Clerk's Office will be registering voters in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed for lunch 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 14.

They will be open until 9 p.m. Oct. 13 and 14.

Exercise your right to vote.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation of citizens in government.

Pahrump Gunfighters

The Pahrump Gunfighters will put on a show for the public at 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at "Dusty Flats," at the rear of the StageStop Lounge and Casino on Stagecoach Road.

The Nevada Outreach Training Organization, No to Abuse and the Family Resource Center in collaboration with NyE Communities Coalition is updating their providers directory along with updating the Youth Activities Directory and the Senior Resource Directory.

Flu shot clinics

The Bureau of Community Health will hold walk-in flu shot clinics: 8:30-4 p.m. Oct. 13; and 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4 p.m. Oct. 22 at the clinic, 250 N. Highway 160, Suite 6.

The flu shot is offered to adults only.

Bring Medicare or Medicaid cards to the clinic. Senior Dimensions is accepted as well. The cost to all others is $20 cash or check.

DAR meeting

The Pahrump Springs chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Pahrump Community Library.
