The Nye County Republican Central Committee is hosting a fundraiser on the Winery grounds for a "Wine and Jazz Extravaganza."

The event begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 11. There will be entertainment provided by the Woody Woods Ensemble featuring Ronnie Rose who is known for "getting people out of their seats to party," according to his Web site, www.ronnieroseband.com.

Woody Woods has taken the stage in Pahrump several times over the last eight years. Woods was "born and raised in the inner city of Los Angeles ... (he) is an author, and a self-taught composer, conductor, lyricist and pianist. Blessed with the opportunity to conduct Parade of the Chariots, from the movie, Ben Hur, during his final year in Junior High School, Woods became hooked on directing bands, choirs and orchestras." More information and his impressive resume can be found on his Web Site, www.woodywoods.net.

Door prizes will be awarded in drawings to be held throughout the event. Some of the big ticket items include firearms instruction from Front Sight, a $500 golf package from Mountain Falls Golf Course and a wine gift basket from Pahrump Valley Winery.

Heavy hors d'ouevres, provided in part by The Patio Café, include various cheeses and crackers, finger sandwiches, chips and salsa, fruits and sweets.

There will be a free wine tasting of Pahrump Valley Winery wines and a wine bar as well.

Julie Hargis, the organizer for the event, said, "The party will last until we run out of wine and out of jazz."

Tickets are a $50 donation. Seating will be provided on the lawn.
