VFW Oktoberfest

The VFW will have an authentic German-cooked dinner 5-7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the post, 4651 S. Homestead Road.

The menu will include rouladen, red cabbage and spaetzle for $7, eat in or take out.

Bones & Brew Cook-off

The Pahrump Elks will host the Bones & Brew Cook-off Oct. 25 at the lodge, 2220 Basin Road, one mile east of Highway 160.

There will be food, a no-host bar, games, entertainment, door prizes and an awards presentation. The event is open to the public.

Contest rules and applications are available at the lodge or by calling Ed, 727-9823.

Senior trip to Laughlin

The Pahrump Senior Center will host a bus trip to Laughlin Oct. 15. The bus will leave the VFW on Homestead Road at 8 a.m. and arrive at Edgewater Casino at 11 a.m.

Participants will receive a voucher for a free lunch buffet. There is a shopping outlet and a movie theater across the street.

The return trip will leave the casino at 5 p.m. and arrive at the VFW at 8 p.m.

Reservations must be made and paid by Oct. 13. The cost is $20.

Dances of Universal Peace

Haven Selah will sponsor Dances of Universal Peace at 1 p.m. Oct. 4., 1680 N. Blagg Road.

The thread through the traditions is to attain inner and outer peace for the family, the community, the nation and the world.

Country music jamboree

The Nevada Country Music Association will hold a jamboree 10-6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Short Branch Saloon in Crystal.

The all-day event will feature food, karaoke, dancing, bands, prizes, appearances by the Pahrump and Beatty gunfighters and a meet and greet candidates forum.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
