The first Running of the Turkeys Thanksgiving Day event is slated Nov. 27, presented by Classic Homes and Ace Sports Place.

A 5-K race (3.1 miles) will begin at 8 a.m., with a one-mile fun walk/run to start at 8:30 a.m.

The event will be held at Mountain Falls, at the CAAS Road entrance.

The cost for the 5-K run is $25 per person, or $85 for a family of four or more. The fun walk/run cost is $20 per person or $70 for a family of four or more.

Awards will go to the top male and female runners, as well as the top three in each age group (which were not announced).

All entrants will receive a T-shirt. An early check-in is to be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mountain Falls Residence Facility.

Late check-in is from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. the day of the race.

The immediate family with the largest number of paid entrants will be awarded a turkey.

Post-race food and a raffle are included.
