HDSIFF

The High Desert Shorts International Film Festival will run today and tomorrow at the Pahrump Nugget.

Film screening begins at 6:30 p.m. this evening and 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

Adults only movie

There will be a movie just for adults screened Nov. 22 at the Amargosa Valley Community Center. The movie is "Ironman" and the cost is $2 per person.

Hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, sodas, etc. will be available for purchase.

Free dinner for seniors

Nevada Joe's will host a free diner for seniors on the first Saturday of each month.

Animal Shelter open house

The Nye County Animal Shelter will hold an open house 1-4 p.m. Nov. 8.

Receive a raffle ticket for each pound of donated cat food.

There will be raffle prizes, free dog nail trimming, hotdogs and sodas, a dog obedience demonstration, pet adoptions, a demonstration by the Nye County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and more.

Spaghetti dinner and auction

The Pahrump Valley High School Booster Club, Ace Hardware, Worden's Farmers' Insurance, Kaye's Allstate and the Moose Lodge will sponsor a spaghetti dinner and "PVHS Football Team Chores Auction" at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Along with a spaghetti dinner, the football team members will bake a cake and be "sold" to perform chores for the winning bidder.

All proceeds will benefit the family of the late Preston Dockter.

Audition

The Artistic Centre will be auditioning for cast members to perform in the play "The Lion King" beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the center, 921 S. Highway 160, Suite 407.

Red Hat book signing

Laraine Harper, the author of "Legal Tender, will be at a book signing for the Red Hat ladies 3-6 p.m. Nov. 10 at the library.

All proceeds will go to the Symphony Animal Foundation.

J.G. Johnson movie night

J.G. Johnson Elementary will host a movie night to benefit the Preston Dockter family beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 7, in the gymnasium. The movie will be "Speed Racer."

The cost is 50 cents per person and concessions will be hot dogs for $1.50, popcorn for $1, candy for $1, soda or water for $1, face-painting for $1, cotton candy for $1 and chips for $1.

An adult guardian must stay for the movie.

Hoedown

The Knights of Columbus Council No. 10780 will host a hoedown 6-9 p.m. Nov. 8 in the parish hall of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Admission is a $12 donation.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, macaroni and cheese, sherbet, coffee and punch is on the menu.

Soda, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Desert Knights will provide the entertainment.

The Nathan Adelson Hospice will hold the fourth annual Festival of Trees fundraiser Nov. 23 and Dec. 5 at the Pahrump Nugget.
