PAC Family Festival at Lakeside
By CHARLENE DEAN
Although every year they have numerous events to their credit, the 14th annual Family Festival is the longest running venue sponsored by the Pahrump Arts Council (PAC). For the last several years the variety show has been staged compliments of Terrible's Lakeside and this year is no different. Terrible's has donated the use of their amphitheater beside the lake as a contribution to the community so the show is free. However, donations are appreciated. Made up entirely of volunteers, headed by "Scotty" Winegar, the staff has been working diligently to compile a list of entertainers to perform a variety of acts and make the show versatile and fun for the whole family. There will be vocalists and musicians, bands and soloists, poetry readings by Cornbread Amos, the High Desert Line Dancers, Sun Country Cloggers, and Walter Turner from Las Vegas as a Billy Idol impersonator. A special appearance by Lynette Schlager and her court is also on tap. Schlager recently won the Ms. Senior Nye County Pageant at Saddle West and she will go on to compete for Ms. Senior Nevada at the Suncoast Casino in Las Vegas in August. The show promises to be a fun outing and will last about two hours beginning at 7 p.m. June 7. Come early and have dinner in the restaurant. There will be no food available on the grounds. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. This is also the time PAC is on a membership drive. The cost is reasonable, $20 for individuals, $10 for students, families are only $30 and businesses can become a part of the arts for $100. The memberships are renewable every year. Volunteers are always needed. For more information, call 751-6776. |
