Derr gains appeal on battery charge
With the success of his appeal May 13, William Derr, 41, will have a second chance to stand trial on a single misdemeanor charge of battery.

Contractor's license jerked for three unfinished homes
The contractor's license of Desert Breeze by Integrity Inc., a Pahrump company, was revoked and the company fined $14,550 plus restitution costs by the state contractor's board last week for substandard workmanship, failing to take corrective action and other violations.

VEA could reap millions, lacks capacity
The number of meters in the Valley Electric Association service area grew by 2.4 percent in the past year, above the national average growth rate of 2 percent and despite the slowdown in the economy, the VEA board was told Wednesday.
