Alzheimer's support group The Alzheimer's support group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, UNLV Cooperative Extension Office, 1651 E. Summer reading program The Pahrump Community Library will hold a summer reading program on the following schedule: Flutter Buzzers -- age 4-5, Tuesday, 9-10 a.m.; Creepy Crawly Critters -- age 6-11, Tuesday, 10:30-11:45 a.m. or Wednesday, 1-2:15 p.m.; Good and (B)Ugly Bugs -- grades 5 and up, Wednesday, 2:30-3:30 p.m. This year's theme is "Catch the Reading Bug." The program is free and includes stories, songs, crafts and fun. Special guest storyteller Jim Cogan, will present "Reading Bug Stories," 10 a.m. June 24. Visit the library to sign up before June 10. To register, call Tom, 727-3858. TOPS yard sale The TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Nevada chapter No. 151 will have a yard sale May 30-31, 5560 N. Janice Ave. The proceeds will be used to defray the expenses of members attending the State Recognitions Day. The yard sale will feature furniture, household items, books, etc. including a table of free items. Chapter No. 151 meets weekly and TOPS chapters are open to all ages. Cactus Jack stew, biscuits and dessert is $6 per person. All proceeds go to aide the community's disabled vets. Benefit concert The Cinderella Girls will sponsor a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. May 31 at the Skate Zone. Serene, Dac & Cali with Deal 'N Records and Iscariot Syndrome will perform. PARC project presentation The Pahrump Alliance for Valley Economic Development (PAVED) will have a display exhibiting the proposed layout and artist's rendition of the PARC complex open for the public 11-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. June 4 at the Bob Ruud Community Center, Room B. Dance classes The Artistic Centre will offer summer fun dance classes for ages 3-18. Classes are available in combination tap and ballet, gymnastics, ballet, tap and jazz and hip hop. Self-defense class The Nye County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Heroes will offer two opportunities to take the two-day women's self-defense class free of charge. The classes will be 8-4 p.m. June 12 and 13 at Bob Ruud Community Center. The no-nonsense class is taught by Nye County law enforcement officers. Participants will learn what to watch for and how to be aware of their surroundings; what to do if surprised by an attack; how to get away from an attacker; what not to do when attacked; what to do when attacked and how to neutralize an attacker. Dahlia St. Good Sam organizing The Good Sam RV Club will have an organizational meeting to form a new chapter, 4:30 p.m. June 7 at the Bob Ruud Community Center, 150 N. Highway 160, corner of 160 and Basin Road. Local chapters are fun, with lots of comraderie, great friends and camping. In order to start a new chapter, there must be five persons in attendance to be officers. The only requirements are that participants be Good Sam members. Amargosa Days art/craft show In conjunction with Amargosa Days, the Amargosa Valley Art Guild will hold the 6th annual art and craft show, 10-3 p.m. June 7 at the Amargosa Valley Community Center, 812 E. Amargosa Farm Road. All artistic mediums are welcome. Prizes will be awarded for best art, best heritage art, best fabric art and best display. All are welcome. PAC annual Family Festival The Pahrump Arts Council will have the 14th annual Family Festival 7:30-9 p.m. June 7 at Terrible's Lakeside amphitheater. Theater Guild 'Spitfire Grill' The Pahrump Arts Council Theater Guild will present a warm-hearted musical that follows the challenges of a young woman just released from prison.
