Robert J. Kilpatrick Robert J. Kilpatrick, 72, passed away May 13, 2008, in Pahrump. He was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Hendersonville, N.C. and was a resident of Pahrump for two-and-a-half years, having come from Highland, Calif. He was employed as a tournament organizer by Lakeview Executive Golf Course. He was veteran of the Navy and a member of the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United States Golf Association. Wife Carole Kilpatrick of Pahrump; daughters Shelia and Kelley, both of Washington and Pam of California; sons Robert, Danny and Steve, all of California; stepdaughters Kaelee of California and Nicole of Nevada and 11 grandchildren survive him. Services will be at noon May 31, Moose Lodge, 1100 E. Second St. (05/13/2008) Yvette Christine Leitner Yvette Christine Leitner passed away April 22, 2008, of complications from an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 12, 1951, in San Diego, Calif. She lived in Joshua Tree, Calif., until her untimely death. She is survived by mother and stepfather, Patricia and Chuck Price of Pahrump; siblings Donald and Jennifer Schliem and Beverly Baker, all of California; seven nieces and nephews and lastly, her two golden retrievers, Clair and Jen. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Leitner. Yvette and Michael loved the desert life and both retired to Joshua Tree. Yvette was a very talented interior designer and potter. (05/22/2008) ![]() David Banovich Sr. David Michel Banovich Sr. 87, lifelong Nevada resident, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008, with his family by his side, at Highland Manor in Fallon. David was born September 26, 1920, in Tonopah, to Michel and Miruna Banovich. David's lifelong careers were in serving the public. First as the fire chief in Tonopah from 1943 to 1951, also serving for seven of those years as a deputy sheriff. In 1951, he joined the Nevada High Patrol, transferring to Fallon in 1964, a career that he retired from in 1974 when he became sheriff for Churchill County. In 1986 after serving for 12 years as the sheriff he opened and operated Fallon Bail Bonds for the next 20 years. David was never a man to sit idle. He loved horses and racing stock cars, a sport in which he and his sons were very. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Millie; son David Banovich Jr.; brother Michel and sisters Kayo and Annie. David is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Put and Renee, Rick and Tanya, Randy and Sandie and daughter-in-law Sis Banovich; longtime friend Marilyn Bernard, all of Fallon; grandchildren Christine, Michelle, David III, Marla, Robert, Melissa, Shannon, Lisa, T.R., Matthew, Randee Lynn, Ricky and Michael; great-grandchildren Matthew, Kaitlyn, Luke, Mikaela, Chance, Averie, Taylor, Quincie, Morgan, Cody; andTriton and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes donation be made to the Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, 6490 South McCarren Blvd., Suite 40, Reno, NV 89509. A Celebration of Dave's life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at The Gardens Chapel. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the Tonopah Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV. (05/16/2008) Gerald Happeny Gerald Louis Happeny, 76, passed away May 20, 2008, in Amargosa Valley. He was born March 16, 1932, in Wisconsin and was a 25-year resident of Amargosa Valley, coming from Medera, Calif. Gerald was of the Christian faith. He was a construction contractor and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was very active in VFW Post 6826, Amargosa Valley and served as past commander. His loving wife Phyllis; sons Williams, Kim and Michael Happeny; brother Michael Happeny; sisters Sally Savage and Judy Lorton; grandchildren Kevin, Bryan, Gerald and Michael Happeny and great-grandchildren Tanner and Jaidyn Happeny survive him. A memorial service will be held today at 5 p.m. at the VFW Post 6826 in Amargosa Valley. Eric J. Lee handled the arrangements. (05/20/2008) |
