Pitching powers Virgin Valley to 3-A baseball title
RENO -- Early in the Southern Nevada Class 3-A League baseball season, the pitching staff on the Mesquite Virgin Valley team appeared to have everything -- except consistency.

STATE 3-A SOFTBALL: Good pitching goes to waste; Lady Trojans go 0-2 at state
RENO -- Terrific pitching by senior righthanders Tori Thomas and Ashleah Barney was wasted in the Nevada Class 3-A State Fast-Pitch Softball tournament, as Trojan hitters struggled and the defense lost focus in critical situations.

FORMER PV STAR RUNS 200 IN 23.28: Maloy on Pac-10 title team
TEMPE, Ariz. -- With freshman Dominique Maloy playing a key role, Arizona State University women's track and field team scored 186.5 points to claim its third title in a row while the men placed second as the 2008 Pac-10 Conference Championships came to a close here Saturday night.
