Softball

The Nevada Class 3-A Fast-Pitch Softball tournament begins at 10 a.m. today at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno. In the first round, Pahrump Valley plays Dayton at noon, after defending champion Fernley and Spring Creek clash. The second round begins at 2 p.m. today, with the title matchups scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. (if necessary) Saturday.

Track

The Nevada All-Classes State Track and Field Championships are scheduled today and Saturday at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. Pahrump Valley (Class 3-A) and Beatty, Tonopah and Round Mountain (1-A) are entered.

The meet begins at 3 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Baseball

The Nevada Class 3-A Baseball tournament began Thursday at Western Nevada College in Carson City, with Mesquite Virgin Valley, the Southern regional champion, playing Dayton. Spring Creek, the North's No. 1 team, faced Truckee, Calif. The semifinals are today at Peccole Park in Reno, with the title round Saturday at Western Nevada.
