AYSO

Registration dates have been announced for AYSO soccer players.

Players born between Aug. 1, 1989 and July 31, 2004 are eligible to register. A copy of the child's birth certificate should be brought to the registration center.

The dates are:

* May 21, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.;

* June 7, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

* July 12, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The community center will be the site for registration on those dates, according to information provided by the soccer organization.

The cost will be $85 for the first child, $80 for each additional child within the same family.

Pre-registration can be made on the Web site, www.eayso.org.

All players in divisions U8 to U14 on either June 7 or July 12 will be evaluated at the community center. Players should bring shin guards to the evaluations.

Softball

Pahrump Valley Softball Association standings:

Women's League -- The Crew 9-1, Ruff Ryders 7-3, No Drama 3-7, H&M 1-9.

Co-Ed League -- Ruff Ryders 6-0, Rosie's Rockhard 3-1, Road Kill 4-2, Git Er Dun 3-3, Lawbreakers 2-4, Nugget 1-5, Shockers 1-5.

Men's League -- Average Joes 7-3, Saitta-Trudeau 7-3, Young Guns 6-4, Dogopoly.com 6-4, Ruff Ryders 6-4, Engel Tech 4-6, Smokin Dogs 3-7, Bud Light Bandits 1-9.

Roller hockey

In matches at the Skate Zone this week, the scores were: Green Machine 9, Sharks 7; Thrashers 5, Bruins 3 and Chicken Wings 6, Green Goblins 1.

Chris Menges had four goals for the Sharks, but Kasen Oakey netted eight for the Machine. James Witten scored four times for the Thrasher. Sierra Tucsnak and Brandon Murpny had two goals each for the Wings.

The Sharks

Rosemary Clarke Middle School will hold a football camp May 19-20-21-22 at the school.

Times are 2:20 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. for sixth and seventh graders. Fifth graders will start at 4:30 p.m.

Cost is $35 and will include the camper receiving a T-shirt. Registration is on the first day of camp, or current sixth and seventh graders can register with Bret Hart at the school. E-mail bhart@nye.k12.nv.us for information.

Registration for the 2008 football season is Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. in the school gym. The first day of practice is Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.

* A junior volleyball camp for students in 4th-6th grades next school year will be held June 2-6, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day in the Rosemary Clarke Middle School gym.

The camp for grades 6-8 will be Aug. 25-28, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the gym.

Tryouts for the 2008 team will be Sept. 2-4, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the gym.

Pop Warner

Pop Warner football registration forms for players 5 to 12 years old can be picked up, then completed, at Worden's Farmers Insurance, 2210 E. Commercial Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The cost is $180; applicants must bring a copy of their child's birth certificate to register.

Practice starts Aug. 1, with eight games to be played.

Volleyball

A volleyball league is forming, with matches to be contested on a grass court on Friday nights.

It will be a co-ed league, with six persons starting on each team. The first eight teams to register will be accepted.

An organizational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., May 4 in Room A at the Community Center.

Bowling

Chellah Reynolds won a Pahrump Valley 500 Club bowling tournament Saturday, with 760. George Whitaker led the groupies with 774. A doubles tournament will be held June 14 at the Nugget.
