Death Valley back in action

Las Vegas drivers and teammates Ronnie Williams (27x) and Ryan Cotrell have a combined total of five wins this year in IMCA modified competition at Death Valley Raceway.

AMARGOSA VALLEY -- Six divisions will be included Saturday when Death Valley Raceway presents its ninth race of the 2008 season south of Highway 373 between Death Valley and Lathrop Wells.

Included on the schedule are IMCA modifieds, super stocks, mini stocks, micro sprints, modified minis and classic coupes.

Dan Fitzgerald leads the IMCA modifieds with a 303-298 margin over Ronnie Williams of Las Vegas. Ryan Cotrell of Las Vegas is third with 285 points.

Williams has three victories this season, while Cotrell has two and Fitzgerald, Levi Kiefer and Jon Jensen have one win each.

Other division points leaders include Mark Dillie (Dwarf cars), Fred Hardy (bombers), Jonathan Mitchell factory stock), Erroll Sharron (micro sprints), Michael Lysinger (mini stocks), Dale Daffern (super stocks), Donny Berger (classic coupes), Eric Slusher and Keith Young (tied in modified minis) and Bobby Clark (360 sprints).

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., while spectator gates open at 5 p.m. Racing is set for 7 p.m.

Death Valley Raceway is a first-year facility featuring a banked one-third mile dirt oval.
