Jack H. Palmer

Jack H. Palmer, a longtime resident of Pahrump, died March 19, 2008.

He will be interned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif., 1 p.m. May 19.

William R. Maddox

William R. "Bill" Maddox passed away April 15, 2008, in Las Vegas.

He was born in 1936, in Sherman, Texas.

Bill served for 12 years in the USAF during the 50s and 60s.

In 1980 he ran the Doak Ranch in Parker, Colo., caring for up to 164 horses at a time. The Colorado Horse Park is now located on the original ranch property.

He also owned and operated Action Tack and Trailer Sales in Parker.

On April 16, 1983, Bill married Marilyn Maddox in Franktown, Colo.

Bill served as president of the Douglas County Quarter Horse Association for many years. He was a member of the Douglas County Fair Board in Colo.; a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since 1975; and a member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association; the International Buckskin Horse Association and the Mile Hi Buckskin Horse Association.

He was also a horse show judge for many years.

Bill and Marilyn moved to Pahrump in 1994, where Marilyn continues to run her real estate business. Bill was the chairman of the Pahrump Fall Festival PRCA Rodeo for the past several years.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

His wife Marilyn of Pahrump; daughter Beth (John) Allis of Larkspur, Colo.; son Scott (Teresa) May of Utah and grandchildren Justine and Patrick Allis and Jeannina, Richelle and Ally May survive him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Eula B. Dinneen and daughter Pamela Boutilette.

A private celebration of life was held in April in Pahrump. Another private celebration of life will be held in August in Colorado.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Pahrump Fall Festival c/o the Town of Pahrump. (04/15/2008)

Patricia Friend

Patricia "Patti" Friend, 38, passed away May 7, 2008, in Pahrump.

She was born Jan. 31, 1970, in North Dakota and was a resident of Pahrump for three years.

She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.

Her daughter Kendall Friend of Pahrump; mother Robyn (Charlie) Barbera of Las Vegas; sister Cynthia Petersen of Las Vegas; grandmother Barbara Elms of West Sacramento, Calif., and uncle Bob Elms survive her.

She was preceded in death by her father Butch Hawley.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. May 15, Palm Mortuary-Eastern.

In lieu of flowers, donations to benefit Kendall Friend may be made to the account set up in her name at Wells Fargo Bank. (05/07/2008)

Sally Judge Kendall

Sally Judge Kendall, 71, passed away May 13, 2008, at Nathan Adelson Hospice-East, in Las Vegas.

She was born Nov. 27, 1935, in New Haven, Conn.

She was a retired administrative assistant in the health care profession.

Son Michael of Henderson; daughters Gene (Tony) of Henderson and Sarena (Donnie) of Las Vegas; sisters Patricia, Marie, Nancy Jane, Madelyn, Louise and Susan; brother Brian and grandchildren Chase, Kendall, Gage and Kylynn survive her.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., May 21, Palm Mortuary-Eastern. (05/13/2008)

Michael L. Fuller

Michael L. Fuller passed away May 7, 2008.

He was born Dec. 17, 1960, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Michael grew up in Sioux City, a small town in west central Iowa. He attended Leeds Junior High School where he wrestled and played football. He continued his education at North High School.

At the age of 19, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force to become a tactical aircraft maintenance craftsman.

During his military career, he was awarded the National Defense Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Air Force Longevity Service with one silver oak leaf cluster and three oak leaf clusters and many other recognitions.

He traveled the world during his career, mainly to the Middle East, where he served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

After serving his country for 25 years and seven months, he was honorably discharged as a master sergeant.

Mike was a very loving son, husband, daddy, brother and a friend to many. Everyone knew Mike as a man you could go to with any problem and be comforted knowing you would walk away with a solution.

He loved his family with all his heart and did anything and everything for "his girls."

He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family. Michael touched the lives of many and we all believe in yesterdays.

His mother, Donna Loftus; beloved wife Barbara Sue; daughters Tara Marie (J.J.) and Haleigh Marie; brothers Billy (Darcie) of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, Rita Bolin; brothers-in-law Michael (Pamela Beth) Rawson, Ronald (Stacy) Schrunk, William "Bill" Schrunk and Keith Kupee survive him.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Cliff and Alice Watkins; his father, William "Pa Pa" Loftus; one aunt; one uncle; a sister, Beverly Kennedy; mother-in-law Alice; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.

The interment will be at Boulder City Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. (05/07/2008)
