The schedule for Family to Family Connection for May is as follows:

May 16 -- Family Vehicle Safety, 1 p.m., call to register.

May 20 -- Teen parenting class in collaboration with WIC, 2 p.m.

May 23 -- Nevada Early Intervention Services Explore and Learn Playgroup, 11 a.m.

May 26 -- closed for Memorial Day.

May 27 -- Car seat safety check, call for appointment.

Mondays -- Scrapbooking class, 1-2 p.m.

Wednesdays -- Understanding the concepts of parenting, 3 p.m., for parents with children birth to 5 years-old.

Thursdays -- Mommy and me play group, 1 p.m.

The resource lending library is open 9-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

RPEN meets

The Pahrump Chapter of the Retired Public Employees of Nevada will meet at 4 p.m. May 15, Pahrump Community Library. Call 751-4782 for more information.

Car wash

The Pahrump Valley Rough Riders will have a car wash 10-2 p.m. May 17 at the Rebel station next to Walgreen's.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from any PVRR member. The cost is $10.

Emergency services training

Nye County Emergency Management Services will hold a training exercise 1-5 p.m. May 17, A Avenue South in Beatty. Call 751-4279 for more information.

Self-defense class

The Nye County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Heroes will offer two opportunities to take the two-day women's self-defense class free of charge.

The classes will be 8-4 p.m. May 22 and 23 at the Desert View Regional Medical Center, or June 12 and 13 at Bob Ruud Community Center.

The no-nonsense class is taught by Nye County law enforcement officers.

Participants will learn what to watch for and how to be aware of their surroundings; what to do if surprised by an attack; how to get away from an attacker; what not to do when attacked; what to do when attacked and how to neutralize an attacker.

Art & Sol at the Nugget

The 14th annual Art & Sol will take place Memorial Day weekend 10-5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, and 10-4 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the Pahrump Nugget.

Admission is free.

Artisans will show and sell their wares in fine art, crafts, fiber arts and more.

Art & Sol is sponsored by the Pahrump Arts Council, 751-6776.

Shoes and sock donations

For the Love of Kids and Bikes is taking shoes and socks donations at the Short Branch Saloon in Crystal.

The donation of a pair of shoes will get the donor a steak dinner and a pair of socks will get the donor a meatloaf dinner.

The drive ends Aug. 17.

The Short Branch opens at 10 a.m. and is closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

June 28, 6 p.m.;

Sept. 13, 6 p.m. and

AGLOW meets

AGLOW is an interdenominational international Christian women's organization providing opportunity for women to grow in faith and in service to others.

The next meeting will be 9:30 a.m. May 17 at the Rock Vineyard Church, 1370 Matthews Lane, beside Smith's.

Caregiver training

Nathan Adelson Hospice will hold a two-day training seminar to teach individuals to be caregivers in a home or hospice environment.
