Digital photo art exhibit

The Digital photo class at Great Basin College will have an art exhibit 4:30-7 p.m. May 16 at the college.

Teen night

The Nye Communities Coalition and St. Martin's in the Desert Episcopal Church will host a teen night 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Seemoore's Too.

Middle school through high school students are invited to an evening of free food, karaoke and games.

Red Hat picnic

The 5th annual Red Hat Birthday Picnic will be May 19 at Campton Park.

There will be door prizes, raffle prizes and games.

The picnic is open to all Red Hatters and "wannabees."

Soroptimists dinner/dance

Soroptimists International Pahrump Valley will host a springtime dinner/dance, 6 p.m. May 17, Charleston Peak Clubhouse at the winery.

The event will be for members and their spouses to get to know each other and introduce club members to the community.

There will be a no host bar, entertainment and a silent auction.

Bowl-a-thon fundraiser

The Desert View Regional Medical Center volunteer auxiliary will sponsor a bowl-a-thon to help raise money for the installation of a memorial/healing garden at the hospital.

The event will be held 10-3 p.m. May 18 at the Nugget Bowl.

The cost is $20 per person and the fee includes shoes and three games of bowling.

All ages are welcome.

A charitable donation of $15 may be deducted on taxes.

Drawings will be held every hour, tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Civil War re-enactment

The Pahrump Museum will present an educational Civil War live fire re-enactment at the Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-off.

Performances will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 17 at Petrack Park.

Volunteers are needed to dress in provided uniforms. Instructions will be given on firing rifles.

Interested parties may register by calling 751-1970.

Be sure to bring comfortable chairs.

Chili Cook-Off

The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual Chili Cook-Off beginning at 10 a.m. May 17, Petrack Park.

In addition to the cook-Off there will be a Civil War reenactment, food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Booth space is $30. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and end around 5 p.m.

Fashion show

The Red Hot and Purple Passionate Pahrumpians will have a fashion show 10-1 p.m. May 17 at Desert Greens clubhouse.

Fashions will be presented by Sunflower Fashions.

A speaker from the Las Vegas American Heart Association will discuss strokes and heart health for women over 50.

Tickets are $10 and $5 of that will go to the American Heart Association.

Refreshments and snacks will be served.

This is the official birthday party for the club and is open to all Red Hat and Pink Hat members and the public.

The Nye Goldseekers will meet 8 a.m. May 17 at Burger King for a trip to Johnnie.
