Nye 4-H does well at Clark County Fair

They did it again. The Southern Nye County 4-H went to the Clark County Fair in Logandale April 9-13 and came back with some great prizes. Every year, 4-H and FFA clubs from all over Southern Nevada participate in the fair. There are vendors, concerts, carnival rides, the small animal barn, arts and crafts and the market show and auction. Our quilting club entered some amazing quilts and knick-knacks, dairy goats participated in the goat show, Krazy Kritters entered small animals and the Livestock Club entered two goats, a sheep and six hogs in the market show and livestock auction. These members and awards included: Quilting Mikayla Kruse entered two pot holders and won a blue and a red ribbon; Whitney Palmer won a blue ribbon on her pot holder and a blue ribbon on her quilt; Robert Palmer won a blue for his pot holder and a blue on his quilt; Dylan Palmer won a blue for Youth Judge's award on his quilt. Also, Brian Palmer entered two wall hangings and won a blue and a red ribbon; Sara Palmer won a blue for Youth Judge's award on her quilt and Kelley Huckeby entered a pot holder and won a blue ribbon. Krazy Kritters Chantelle Smith won Best of Breed and Best of Show on her rabbits, Best of Class on her chickens and Best in Class on her doves; Alec Hornbuckle won Best in Class on his rabbit, Best in Class on his potbelly pig "Puddin"; Robert Palmer won Best in Class for "Buddy" the black giant rooster, Champion for the Mille la Fleur hen and Youth Judges Award for his rooster. Dairy goats Whitney Palmer placed second in Showmanship, her goat won Grand Champion; Brian Palmer won first in Showmanship and Class Act award for his goat pen; Sara Palmer won second in Showmanship; her goat won Grand Champion; Also, Dylan Palmer won first in Showmanship and Grand Champion; Kyle Schaffer won first in Pee Wee Showmanship and Best in Class. Miscellaneous Kyle Schaffer won Best in Class for "Spike," a reptile, and Champion for "Broccoli," a snake; Robert Palmer won Best in Class for "Stevie," a snake. Livestock Daniel Bivins won first in Senior Swine Showmanship and a blue in Market; Rachael Daigler won fourth in Senior Swine Showmanship and a blue in Market; Emily Fronk won fourth in Senior Goat Showmanship, fifth and a blue in Market; Also, Jared Groene won a blue in Market Swine and fifth in Junior Showmanship; Alec Hornbuckle won a blue in Market Swine; Adaven Scronce won a blue in Market Sheep; Colt Scronce won a blue in Market Swine; Also, James Simpson won a third in Intermediate Market Swine and a blue in Market Swine and Chantelle Smith won second in Senior Goat Showmanship and a red in Market. Livestock Herdsmanship The Southern Nye County 4-H Livestock members won the Overall Herdsmanship award. The individual groups won as follows: Sheep -- Adaven Scronce won first in Sheep Herdsmanship; Goats -- Chantelle Smith and Emily Fronk won first in Goat Herdsmanship; Swine -- Daniel Bivins, Rachael Daigler, Jared Groene, Alec Hornbuckle, Colt Scronce and James Simpson won third in Swine Herdsmanship. |
