SOUTHERN REGIONAL PLAYOFFS

Track

The Southern Nevada Class 3-A, 2-A and 1-A Track and Field Championships are today and Saturday at Moapa Valley High School in Overton.

The meet starts at 3 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Pahrump Valley, Beatty, Tonopah and Round Mountain are among the teams entered.

State champions in these three classes will be determined May 16-17 at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. May 16 events start at 3 p.m., with May 17 action beginning at 9 a.m.

Baseball

The Southern Nevada Class 3-A Baseball tournament will resume today and conclude Saturday at Boulder City High School.

Thursday's games were Mesquite Virgin Valley vs. Boulder City and Pahrump Valley vs. Las Vegas Faith Lutheran. Today's games are at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as at at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (if necessary) Saturday.

The champion advances to the state tournament May 15-16-17 at Reno.

Softball

The Southern Nevada Class 3-A Fast-Pitch Softball regional tournament runs through Saturday at Boulder City.

First-round games Thursday were Faith Lutheran vs. Virgin Valley and Pahrump Valley vs. Boulder City.

Today's games are at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., as well as at 10 a.m. and noon (if necessary) Saturday.

The state tournament is May 16-17 at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno, wtih the Southern champion joining three Norther 3-A League teams.

Boys Golf

The Nevada Class 3-A State Boys Golf Championships are Tuesday at The Palms (10:40 a.m.) and Wednesday at Casablanca (11:10 a.m.) in Mesquite. Pahrump Valley was among the Southern teams competing Thursday in the regionals at Mountain Falls.
