Michael Gogerty, 41, was sentenced April 6 for charges relating to possession of child pornography over the Internet.

A fifth grade teacher for the Nye County School District until his arrest last year, Gogerty was discovered to have more than 60,000 images of child pornography on his computer.

Gogerty was one of 80 Nevadans arrested for similar charges after a nationwide U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement initiative to target and deport sex offenders was conducted.

More than 10,000 arrests were reported nationally.

Gogerty's arrest was allegedly the result of a tip received from authorities in Toronto, Canada, which resulted in Nevada officials raiding his Las Vegas home.
