Spring carnival

Hafen Ranch Elementary will have the annual Spring Carnival 11-2 p.m., May 10, Hafen Ranch Elementary, 7120 Hafen Ranch Road.

Activities include a blood drive, games, food, pony rides, face painting, K-9 demonstration, a firefighter demonstration, prizes, cake walk, silent auction, raffles, balloon animals, relay races, sheriff awards, a photo booth, and a dunk tank for Dr. Owens, the principal.

Republican office needs volunteers

The Nye County Republican Central Committee opened its office May 1.

Volunteers are needed to man the office Monday-Friday at 1330 S. Highway 160 beside Quizno's.

The 9th annual Stand for Children Day/Teacher of the Year Program will be held at 11:30 a.m., May 10, Rosemary Clarke Middle School.

Toys for Tots coordinator

Reggie Knight is urgently seeking a replacement for himself as Toys for Tots coordinator.

The position is on a volunteer basis and is a nine-month commitment.

The volunteer will work under the direction of the Marine Corps Reserve.

Responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, organize and execute the annual toy collection.

Two weeks of expense-paid training is required.

Bowl-a-thon fundraiser

The Desert View Regional Medical Center volunteer auxiliary will sponsor a bowl-a-thon to help raise money for the installation of a memorial/healing garden at the hospital. the event will be held 10-3 p.m., May 18 at the Nugget Bowl.

The cost is $20 per person and the fee includes shoes and three games of bowling.

All ages are welcome.

A charitable donation of $15 may be deducted on taxes.

Drawings will be held every hour, tickets at $1 each or six for $5.
