The Pahrump Valley Community Action Team Public Relations Committee (or Positively Pahrump) hosted Pahrump's first annual hoedown Saturday, April 26.

Plenty of townsfolk stopped by the StageStop outdoor area to enjoy only slightly breezy weather, continuous entertainment, and chow down on hot dogs and hamburgers priced to bring back the good 'ol days: 25 cents got a freshly-grilled hot dog and 50 cents got you a hamburger.

"The whole point of it was the family atmosphere," said Erin Froehling, while manning the long line at the food cashier.

And plenty of families could be found comfortably settled into lawn chairs or at tables enjoying music and entertainment from Pablo, Midnight, Country, the High Desert Line Dancers, and the Sun City Cloggers.

Things got a little more rowdy when the Pahrump Gunfighters, dressed appropriately in period clothing as always, put on a gun-slinging show that captured everyone's attention.

And, in between, attendees could check their ticket stubs (though admission was free) and see if they won one of the plethora of prizes that were available through the continuous raffles between acts.

There were gift certificates for everything from J.C. Penney to Seemoore's Too, just to name a few of the prizes.
