VEA awards scholarships
Valley Electric Association announced the recipients of four scholarships at its last meeting at the Beatty Community Center April 19.

Public hearing scheduled on test site impacts
The environmental impacts of ongoing and planned activities at the Nevada Test Site will be addressed during a public hearing scheduled by the National Nuclear Security Administration at 5 p.m. Monday at the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Beatty looks to luring doctor
The Beatty Town Advisory board has approved an incentive package of up to $100,000 to attract a doctor to the town clinic.

California Lottery

There has been a change at the top in the administration of the Great Basin College system and of the local Pahrump Valley campus. Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons wants to cut $898 million from the state budget for the next biennium.
